When you visit Mayapur, I will be delighted to introduce you personally to our staff and students and show you around the school. Meanwhile, I trust our web-site will introduce you to some of the unique aspects of our school and give you some of the flavours of the SMIS.
What is SMIS?
The Sri Mayapur International School is a Hare Krishna Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary School catering for pupils from Ages 3 to 18 years, drawn from over 10 nationalities.
OUR MISSION
The Sri Mayapur International School's holistic approach to education engages the body, mind, intelligence and words of devotee children from all over the world. It prepares them to fulfill their life’s purpose spiritually, at the same time providing internationally accepted skills, training and academic education.
SMIS immerses students in an alternative educational system that balances traditional, eternal spiritual values and contemporary international academics. This equips students to follow a Krishna Conscious lifestyle whilst pusuing a career in commerce, science, academia and other disciplines.
1. The spiritual Krishna Conscious program is based on the books of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
2. Practical aspects of sadhana and a Krishna Conscious lifestyle are taught.
3. Principal aspects of the Vedic culture are taught including arts, music (harmonium, mrdanga) dance etc.
4. All students are taught the basics of a self-sufficient lifestyle with emphasis on living simply and in harmony with the land and nature.
5. The academic education and qualification is based on the internationally recognized Cambridge Curriculum but devotee teachers offer a devotional perspective on all subjects where appropriate and necessary (e.g. Darwin’s Theory).
6. Upon graduating students will achieve both a Cambridge Certificate and a Bhakti Shastri degree.
7. The principal and staff are selected and trained to have the relevant spiritual and academic qualifications and experience to be able to fulfill the school’s mission.
